My Mouth

Connecting patients to their oral health.

Project Overview: Bridging the Gap

As dental hygienists, my firsthand experience revealed a significant gap in care and support between patients and care providers. With typical appointments spaced every 3-6 months, we realized that patients were responsible for the majority of their oral hygiene—approximately 730 cleanings per year.

Recognizing this gap, I designed My Mouth to address these challenges. MyMouth is a collaborative dental patient portal that allows the dental clinician to provide homecare instructions, technique modifications, identify risk factors, and provide patient education on the health status unique to their mouths.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, while the medical industry experienced a digital expansion, dental healthcare lagged behind. The creation of a dental patient portal becomes crucial, providing patients with the ability to actively participate in their oral health needs, make informed decisions about their dental care, and optimize the efficiency of dental staff deployment.
