 Discovery

During discovery, we created a mind map to help guide our research. Using a slight semiological approach, we built a map containing all the icon needs and identified secondary branches with words or phrases that could be associated with them. After establishing the secondary branches, we then collected several sample icons for each label option.

Wireframes

During feedback, Lauren and I were a little muddy on the direction for 3 icons: Find a Doctor, Billing/ Pay My Bill, and Benefits 101. We decided to both take on those icons and design our own versions. We determined that Lauren’s version of billing was best, but sent along V1 and V2 for Find a Doctor and Benefits 101 for further feedback from stakeholders.

Mock Ups

After receiving suggested edits, Lauren and I regrouped and moved through the set together to apply suggested edits.
We filled in the cross on Find a Doctor, replaced the New to RP icon with the RP Recruiting icon, and while it was suggested to fill-in the leaves for Benefits 101, we felt it made the icon too top heavy so we included two versions for review. We also added colors to see how we could balance RP branding into the icons.

Success!

It’s a set!

After completing our final round of edits, we sent off the updated set and received confirmation that the set met branding standards and would be integrated into to the existing icon library.
